BBC Election Coverage Continuing the Morning after the night before

Update (Friday, 10.47am): C-SPAN 3 coverage went right through to 10.45am, until BBC1 and BBC Election 2010 online coverage ended.

Update (Friday, 8am): C-SPAN will resume coverage at 8.30am on C-SPAN 3. In the mean time, watch live here:

Update (Thursday, 8.21pm): C-SPAN moved the coverage over to C-SPAN 1 at 8pm.

The worry is over, at least for those with a good cable package: C-SPAN have just confirmed that they will be broadcasting the BBC Election Night Special on C-SPAN 3:

SIMULCAST OF BBC ELECTION RESULTS
Thursday
The British election is tomorrow, May 6th, and our coverage will include a simulcast of the BBC Election Results starting at 4:55pm ET on C‑SPAN3, comprehensive analysis of the returns from key constituencies, and interviews with leading politicians.
It's good to see that they are beginning coverage at 4.55pm ET, exactly as the BBC coverage begins. I realize that some will be disappointed because they don't have access to C-SPAN 3 on their cable packages, though my guess would be that most people who have BBC America will also have C-SPAN 3, and that should be most of the British expats and Anglophiles over here.   I must admit to being delighted that I will be able to watch the BBC Election coverage live on TV, really delighted.

Update (16.43): Jonathan has now blogged on this too, over at Anglotopia.net, Where to watch the British Election results in the USA on May 6, where he also provides a link to the live election news feed available on the BBC News Channel, which is not locked down to international users, BBC Election 2010, which may be a good source for those who do not have C-SPAN 3 on their cable packages.

What's most annoying is that I have C-SPAN1 and 2, but not 3. Damn it.

Oh, that is bad luck. Upgrade?!

Rubbish! WHY C-SPAN 3! The channel that hardly anybody has!! What a joke!!

Hadn't realized that so few have C-SPAN 3. That's certainly bad news. I think on Time Warner Cable it's a second tier package channel.

I don't have C-SPAN 3 either - I'm not even sure I can get it. Luckily I'll be at a British Expat party with their own live feed. Should be fun!

Damn DirecTV, no C-SPAN 3 for me either. Did you ever hear back an official line from the Beeb as to whether they'd be showing any coverage other than their extended BBC News America?

Like the sound of the party, Jonathan!

Simon: Bad luck on C-SPAN 3 too. No, only thing I had back from BBC America was something that expressed pride in their having a special edition of BBC World News America. Mixed feelings about BBC America at the moment -- pretty good treatment of the new Doctor Who, but disappointing that they are broadcasting Star Trek: TNG and very disappointing about the lack of election simulcast.

Yay! If you have RCN cable (D.C. and Boston and others) then C-SPAN3 is channel 303 for both the signature and premium packages.

Thanks for keeping us informed Mark.

Thanks, Ian. Good to hear that at least one other person gets C-SPAN 3!

I also don't get C-SPAN 3, but it seems like you can get a direct feed from their website.

It turns out that I actually do have CSPAN 3. I was pleasantly surprised. And pleased.

Ha ha; fancy that. On the broadcasting side, I've been really pleased about the ongoing coverage on the BBC News website -- it's been great.
